Random Guy Tells the Story
of Trunks on the Radio
A truly odd submission generously donated by Daitsui.
It really must be heard to be believed. Here's a
description from Daitsui about this sound file:
"This clip is of a guy on Coast to Coast
AM, a talk radio station in the wee hours of the
night, 1AM to 4AM, on various radio stations across
the country. The time of this clip I believe is
July 2001. It's run by Art Bell but the DJ on
tonight was Barbara Simpson. They were having
open lines which is when anyone can call in about
anything.
That's how this all got started. This caller
is talking about how he met a time traveler, and
guess who that time traveler is......TRUNKS! He
almost completely tells the story of when Goku
meets Trunks. He details what Trunks looks like
and the DJ does believe him because she didn't
know about DBZ."
Suncoast's "Request" Magazine Lists
DBZ's Top 10 Demises
Suncoast Video's official magazine for
Replay members, "Request," printed their
own list of the top 10 deaths in Dragonball Z in commemoration
of the series' end in March. Despite the amount of
errors (uh.... Yamcha died several times? Try two.),
it's still a fun read.

DBZ Mentioned on "Buffy the Vampire
Slayer"
On Tuesday's (1/21/03) new episode of
the series (season 7, episode 12, "Potential"),
the nerdy character (and former wanna-be super-villain)
Andrew expresses an interest to go on the latest Buffy
mission. The rest of the Scoobies are convinced that
he's still evil, but he tries to prove otherwise by
saying:
"But I'm reformed. I'm like Vegeta
from Dragonball Z! I used to be a pure Saiyan, and
now I fight on the side of Goku!"
and then proceeds to ask Dawn (once everyone else
leaves him in the dust), "You wanna play Dragonball
Z?". Well, the scene may be incorrect in its
assumption that Vegeta is no longer a full-blooded
Saiyan, but it's the thought that counts! The writers
of the show kick ass for making a DBZ reference. :)
I doubled over in laughter when I heard this on Buffy!
It's like my two worlds are colliding! Too funny.
So, for your own viewing amusement, I have encoded
this scene for you to download.

Otakon 2001 Report
Behold! Crazed yaoi fan girls,
bad fan dubs, car accident, rude Otaku, meetings with

Shoujocon 2001 Report
Shoujocon 2001 took place on June 14-15,
2001. For only the second year in existance
for this small, central New Jersey anime convention,
Shoujocon proved to be quite improved over its first
year. While there were still some problems in
organization, the weekend still was a fun event.

Meri and Mike Meet Eric Johnson
and Sonny Strait
On Saturday, May 26, 2001, Meri of ToT
and Mike of Daizenshuu EX embarked on a mystical journey
to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia.
The mission: to meet and chill with voice actors Eric
Johnson (Trunks) and Sonny Strait (Krillin).
It was a day neither Mike nor Meri would forget for
a long time. To check out their wacky antics,
and to view movie clips, pictures, and fun recollections,
go to the seperate page I made dedicated to the trip!

"In three years on the morning of

(announcer talks)
Goku: So what are they? Aliens, or something?
Trunks: No, they're Androids that were created
right here on earth. There doesn't seem
to be any logic to what they do. They're
exterminator machines; manhaters. It's mindblowing
how powerful they are.
(announcer talks more)
Trunks: Father.. I'm glad I was able to
see you. Farewell young mother. May the
good spirits protect you. |
Trunks Article in Australian
Kids Magazine, K-Zone
A little while back, I received an e-mail
from an employee of K-Zone, a children's magazine
in Australia. I was asked if they could use
info from the ToT for a DBZ article they were going
to do all about the coming of Trunks. Of course
I said yes, and just recently, they sent me a copy
of the finished magazine, on the house. The
article in itself is kinda cheesy, buy hey, it's a
kid's magazine. ^_^ Here for your viewing pleasure
is the K-Zone article, all about Trunks! (notice the
Trunks' General Sats, taken right from the Trunks Info section. Heh, I wish
I knew how many kids right now are asking "what's
a Burning Attack"?)

Mini-Trunks Article from Animerica
Vol.8, Issue 7
This issue of Animerica featured tons
of info about the past and future of DBZ on TV.
Also included was a small article called "Mystery
Man" that describes the coming arrival (but already
on video, as we know) of a character who will forever
change the history of DBZ. What I find amusing
about this is that it never comes right out
and says "This character's name is Trunks",
while years ago, Animerica flat out published in an
issue that said "Trunks is the son of Bulma and
Vegeta". I guess with his first appearance
on tv nearing soon, Animerica is trying to hype it
up for people who haven't seen him. Oh well,
check it out for yourself!
