A New Point of View ( My bitching, instead
of theirs.)

Yo, everyone. I'm here with yet another editorial for
all those who are bored, like me. Basically, I'm here
to regale everyone with yet another boring, mind numbing
editorial, basically showing you that I can bitch constantly
about every webmaster, and every thing wrong with the
dub, with finesse. (dripping sarcasm) Oh, excuse me.
I'm sure you dont want to hear more about that kind
of junk, so I'm here to bitch about the people who write
that. I wrote a previous editorial, but I didn't go
very into it, it was rather short compared to what I'm
capable of, (You got lucky, last time, punk. ^_^ ).
It also wasn't anywhere near as comprehensive as this
one is, and well, to be truthful, I am really really
bored as of the moment. So, I'm here to bitch-I mean
write an editorial.
Author's Note: The word "bitch" will stop
being used so often. Maybe. If you ask nicely. ^_^
Anyway, lemme tell you basically what you already know
about all the people who bitch constantly. I'm gonna
deal with two subjects here, the subject of the complaining
about the FUNimation dub, and the subject of complaining
of DBZ big time site webmasters. I guess I'll start
with the webmaster thing, might as well.
Recently and not so recently, all over the web, there
have been constant complaining about the debt and horrible
wrongs people that own big time sites, such as Planet
Namek and Daizenshuu EX. According to this group of
people, they think that Mr.E and VegettoEX are basically
running sites who don't care about the fans, that they
tell everyone what to do, and basically think that they
are better than everyone. These people think that people
should rise up, and demand that these sites listen to
them, though some go to further and lesser extremes.
Now, before I start, don't get me wrong, I'm not just
another Eliter ass-kissing guy complaining that the
Elites should rule the world, or something. But I do
think that some people take it too far.
Now, to all you people who think VegettoEX and Mr.E
and cohorts are simply doing it for themselves, that
they think they run the show, I got something to tell
ya.
You are absolutely right.
Now hold a second, I ain't agreeing with you guys,
but I'm just saying that they do in fact run the show,
and they are doing it for themselves. Planet Namek and
Daizenshuu EX are fan sites, created by DB fans, to
express their love for DB, and share it with others.
They are totally free of charge. I stressed that, because
as they are fan sites and are free of charge, I have
some more news for you, kiddies: you think that just
because they are big time sites, you have a right to
a say with what goes on? Well, you're wrong.
You have no right to tell these webmasters what they
can and can't do. They do this completely free of charge,
only for the pleasure it gives them, because they want
to. They are dedicated, working hard and long on their
sites with their staff as much as they can, to please
you guys. But it is their site, as such they have every
right to decide what they do on it. Don't get me wrong,
sometimes VegettoEX's attitude pisses me off as much
as the next guy, but I still do understand him, and
respect all his hard work. These webmasters ow you people
nothing. They provide you with a lot of stuff, and for
that, you should be grateful. And how do you show your
thanks?
You call them "eliters," and just basically
annoy the crap out of them.
I would remind you, they do this for free, because
they want to. Nowhere does it state in any of their
sites that you have a say in what goes on. Oh, sure,
they listen to you, and do what you guys want sometimes,
which is generous of them, but in the end, they have
the final say, and I totally agree with them. They made
the site, they worked on it, they get my respect and
best wishes. Simple.
Now, to all of you people who believe that their sites
have ruined the DB community, that they believe they
are the best:
I agree with you, to an extent. To an extent. Some
of the big time webmasters do in fact act like children,
but that gives you no right to degrade their hard work.
And I find that many of these people that bitch about
Planet Namek's debt to society, and such, are disgruntled
ex-webmasters themselves, whose sites were not so well
received, or were refused to be linked, in some way
or another. They are, simply to put it, jealous of the
sucess of these other sites. And dont even waste my
time and yours talking about how these sites think they
own the web, and don't give a chance to other sites
like your own. There are new up and coming sites all
the time, they get linked. It is a matter of quality,
content, and personality that makes a site sucessful,
not some huge stroke of luck by the big time webmasters.
So please, if your site didn't quite make the cut, don't
bitch at other sites who did. It's childish.
And to those of you who feel like flaming me for the
last paragraph, go ahead, flame away. But only as long
as it's done in style, with a well presented argument,
I enjoy a debate from time to time. Don't bother personalizing
the argument, either, I hate that.
Now that I finished all my bitching about my first
topic, on to my second! (sigh)
FUNimation's dub. It has been the center point of countless
debates, editorials, and heated argument in the Dragon
Ball internet community. And frankly, I for one am sick
and tired of it. All these people complaining constantly,
bitching at each other with the same old tired arguments,
why, it's enough to drive a normal DB otaku like me
mad! >=)
Okay, I understand where all of you people are coming
from, I really do. The voice actors are nowhere near
as close in quality as the Japanese originals, same
for the music, and the consant filling of every staredown
with noise does in fact get annoying from time to time.
But you see, I try no to let that ruin it. Really,
just stop, everyone. Sit there and watch the dub, not
as a poorly made translation, but as a whole different
interpretation of the story of Dragon Ball. When I do
that, it is a lot more enjoyable. But then I come online,
and once again I see the two sides of this war bickering
like small children. Good to all of you who are working
to change it, and don't constantly bitch about the dub.
I'm happy for you, you aren't five year olds.
Here would be an example: Chris Psaros of DBZ Uncesored!
DBZ DVD editorial. Now, dont get me wrong, I like Chris.
It's fun to listen to him, and he presents all his arguments
in a nice and well organized way. Plus, I was really
rooting for him on the surgery, and if you're reading
this man, glad you came through. Now, this editorial
was nice and well presented, and brought up many valid
points on the quality of the Dragon Ball Z DVDs. But,
some of the things he was arguing about were pretty
petty, I mean, this is what everyone wanted, right?
Subbed DB, subbed right, great quality, and original
tracks. Heaven, right? Unfortunately, for some of us,
no. Instead, in this editorial, all we get is whining
about the box art, title screen caption, and missing
preview and review. While it was a great editorial,
and they were all valid points, they were just so small,
being transformed into something so big. So I have come
to one conclusion:
We'll never be happy, no matter what. Maybe it's human
nature, or something, but I'm now sure that no matter
how much FUNi improves, or even if they were great to
start with, there would still be constant bitching about
really meaningless little things. Take the Gundam Wing
dub, for instance. All of us casual Gundam fans thought
it was great, but hardcore GW-otaku once again bitched
about Zech's voice sounding like a snake, etc. It's
a sad though that no matter what FUNi does, we're going
to be stuck with all this useless complaining and childlike
bickering.
Anyway, I'm tired, and it seems I have bitched way
too long for my own good. Sorry for putting you guys
through that. Later.
Sayonara and until next time,
