Vote For My Page By Clicking Here
By Andy Diehl
There are many ways to advertise a web
site. Some work and some don't. Something I have seen
in the past may gain hits, but lose return hits.
Almost everyone has seen the top 20 site
lists. They work very simply. You go to a web site and
check, if you feel it is a good site you click on a
banner that votes for that site. Or at least it should
be that way. I am on the lookout for new sites all the
time. Awhile back I visited a web site entitled Dragonball
Hell. I thought I would give it a look. Eagerly I clicked
on a link to that site. A box popped up that said "Vote
for me or you will burn in hell". I had not seen
the site yet so I felt I could not vote on it at that
time. I clicked no and got a message that resembled
the following "Well I guess your not in hell".
Then I was forced to vote numerous times for that site.
I then saw on the opening screen that this guy was in
at least five top site clubs.
New sites have no respect, they feel the only way to
obtain hits is to trick people and not to have new and
original information. Or is that it, are people looking
too much for popularity and not self-satisfaction. A
DBZ/Anime site is made for your own self-satisfaction
and/or to inform and educate others. If you look at
the top sites of today like Planet Namek, VeggetoEX's
page, SREDBZ's page, Greg Werner's site, Castor Troy's,
Skitz's or ToT you would never see a top sites banner.
That is because they make their sites to inform and
for the pure love of Dragonball. All right so you may
say "Well look how popular those sites are they
don't need that type of advertising". Well they
were not always popular, do you think there first day
of being open they got their 200 to 500 hits. No that
is ridiculous. They knew that they needed the original
material or that one idea that no one else had. If you
ever go to the sites on a top site list most of them
are probably bootleggers who have stolen, slightly altered,
or have un original material.
ou have to look at it this way. Now you have a site
that is very un original, but is on a top site list.
He has a million pop ups so he gains many hits with
each visitor. He builds himself up to number one on
the list. He thinks he is on the top. Now that he is
number one he gets more hits, the word spreads about
his site. One of the top DBZ web master's or a protection
group (such as Majin.net was) sees all the stolen stuff
on his site. He gets blacklisted and reported to all
the top sites. That may bring you hits, but not because
of your content, but to see all the stolen material
you have. Yes I have gotten off the topic of strictly
top site lists, but that is what happens when you write
about something you believe in.
So basically I do not put down all top
site list's, but there are to many out there with people
trying to get to the top the wrong way.
