Let's Add A New Aspect to the Great Sub/Dub Debate!

For those of you getting tired of the current sub/dub debate, let me toss in a whole new aspect: DBZ dubbed in Spanish! A few months ago, I discovered DBZ on Telemundo, the all Spanish channel (9 am weekday mornings, 2 pm Sat. afternoons, check your local listings).

I love this for two reasons: 1) It lets me put my four years of high school Spanish to use on a regular basis, something I haven't done since, well... high school (about 3 or 4 years ago... you know, it's amazing what you keep and what you lose when it comes to foreign languages...) 2) The episodes seem to be unedited, which is nice for someone like me who would like to see what has been removed from the English dubbed episodes, but doesn't have the money to go out and buy the unedited tapes.

The dubbing seems to be pretty good as far as I can tell. Gohan's voice is really cute and Freezer (As of this writing the Telemundo eps.. are roughly in the middle of the Frieza Saga, and they call him Freezer...) sounds appropriately evil. My only real problem with the dubbing is that after watching it consistently for about a month I still have a little trouble telling most of the adult male voices apart. That might just be a cultural thing on my behalf, i.e. I didn't grow up in a Spanish speaking area, thus I may not aware of certain nuances in peoples voices that would be significant to someone who did grow up in such an area, or some such thing (or maybe I'm just completely on crack like my fiancee keeps implying... ;P ). But I'm getting the hang of it, ever so slowly...
