Creating Your Own Persona >>
1-2-3-4
Our
class has determined that the blog, an online diary, is
its own genre on the Internet. We have determined that the
blog is very different from an ordinary diary. The blog
is no longer private; some kind of audience is imagined,
since the blog is displayed in a public forum. The blog
can be copied, and it is harder to destroy online versions.
There are also issues of hypertextuality,
since the blog represents a community of people online,
and therefore, it participates in a larger web of meaning.
One of the major aspects of blogs is that the temper or
attitude of the author can change from entry to entry. The
anonymity that the Internet affords allow users to become
any kind of person he or she desires. Aspects of the web
blog are prevalent in Lain, especially the ability
to become someone else through electronic and textual means.
