Trunks, Gohan, and Bulma investigate the weird time machine.  Trunks plays with the squirrles. =P  The Cell egg is found.

Trunks and the gang finds out that there is a monster attacking cities.  Trunks figures out that the monster came out of the egg he found in the other time machine.

As Piccolo fights Cell, Trunks, Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta try to figure out what the monster is.

Trunks and Krillin team up to go investigate Dr. Gero's underground lab.  Trunks discovers the blue prints to #17, and takes it back to his mother, after he and Krillin destroy what's left of the lab.

Trunks goes to meet up with Vegeta, who is training alone in the mountains.

Goku is recovered from his heart attack, and he brings Trunks and Vegeta into the Room of Spirit and Time to train to fight against Cell.  The 2 of them stay in there for many many episodes. =)

Trunks and Vegeta come out of the Room of Spirit and Time!  Trunks sports an all-new, more mature look.  He's taller, and now has long hair.

Trunks tells the gang about what it was like training with his dad in the Room.  Bulma arrives, and thinks Trunks' new hair-do is a wig. =P  The guys get Saiyajin armor, and Vegeta and Trunks go to battle Cell, who has since gained his 2nd form.

Vegeta and Trunks arrive to fight Cell.  Cell notices that Trunks has become much more powerful than the Trunks he killed in an alternative timeline (I won't even go there now). =P   Trunks watches as Vegeta "surpasses Super Saiyajin" to fight Cell.

Trunks has a flashback to being in the Room with his dad.  Looks on calmly as Vegeta's fight with Cell continues.

Trunks continues to watch Vegeta fight Cell.

Trunks challenges Vegeta, as Vegeta wants Cell to gain his Perfect Form so he can fight him.   Trunks says that he won't allow that to happen, so he'll fight Vegeta, even if he is his father.  Trunks starts to fight Cell so that Vegeta can't get at him.   Cell is amazed at how fast and strong Trunks is, and Trunks says that he will kill Cell.

Just as Trunks stops Cell from escaping, Cell finds #18 hiding on an island.  When Cell flies to the island to go absorb her, Trunks follows, and pounds the crap out of Cell.   Vegeta, however, hits Trunks because he wants Cell to absorb #18.  Trunks says that he'll defeat Cell, because he doesn't want to see another hellish future, and that he'll fight Vegeta if he has to in order to protect the world.  Vegeta tells Trunks that he'd "never attack your own father".  Trunks proves him wrong and blasts Vegeta, which sends him flying into the ocean.  Trunks then continues to fight Cell, but after blinding everyone with a Taiyoken, Cell absorbs #18.

While Cell is transforming to his Perfect Form, Trunks has a flashback to his future.  He then says that he won't let his future be ruined again, so he tries to blast Cell while he's transforming.  It doesn't work, and Cell gains his Perfect Form.

Krillin figures out that Trunks is hiding his "real" power.  Vegeta comes back, and begins to fight Perfect Cell.

While Vegeta is fighting Cell, Trunks secretly powers up on the side.  He doesn't want to do it all the way, for the sake of not hurting his father's pride.  However, Cell beats the crud out of Vegeta, and he is knocked unconscious.  Trunks continues to power up, knowing it's his turn to fight.

Trunks and Cell begin to fight, and Cell tells Trunks that he wants to see his "real power".

Trunks powers up to superpass Super Saiyajin, just like Vegeta did (this form is known as Ultra or Super.  It's inbetween Super Saiyajin levels 1 and 2).  As this is happening, Trunks has a big flashback to his future, where #17 and #18 killed everyone.  Trunks tells Cell that he will kill him.

Trunks and Cell keep fighting, but Cell figures out that there is something wrong with the form that he and Vegeta achieved.  He tells Trunks that his transformation was just one of power, and that's nothing important.  Cell also powered up to show Trunks what he meant.  Trunks is shocked by this and gives up.  He says "I can't fight anymore.  Kill me.".  Cell doesn't do so, because he wants to have a Tenkaichi Budokai with all of the Z-Fighters to refine his skills and fight "just for fun".  Trunks can't believe this.

When Cell leaves, Trunks, Krillin, and Vegeta go back to Kame House, and Trunks tells everyone about the tournament that Cell wants to have.

Trunks, Vegeta, and Krillin are watching TV at Kame House.  Bulma arrives to see if Trunks was ok from his fight with Cell.  he says yes, and Baby Trunks starts pulling on Trunks' hair.  Then, Cell appears on TV and tells the world about the tournament.   The gang worries about what they are going to do about it.  Vegeta was about to go train some more and Trunks was going to go with him, but Bulma stops him and says that Trunks' long hair is "horrible" and she'll cut it for him. =)

Goku and Gohan come out of the Room of Spirit and time, and they tell Trunks and the gang all about it.

Trunks goes back to the future.  He tells Future Bulma all about what happened to him in the past.  Trunks then goes and kills #17 & 18.  A few years pass, and he kills Cell as well.
